About the Nassau BOCES Educational Foundation
 2010/2011 Grant Application

Grant Applications are due May 28, 2011

If you are interested in applying for a grant through the Foundation, please follow this rubric as a guide to the types of ideas the Foundation Board is interested in funding.

Grant proposals should incorporate the following:
A.   They should embody a unique concept.
B.   They should incorporate the best research in teaching and learning.
C.   The goal the grant is attempting to accomplish should be highly replicable
with the potential to serve many students.
D.   The project funded should be outside the normal operating budget.

How will grants be awarded?
Grants will be reviewed by a sub-committee of the Board of Directors of the Nassau BOCES Educational Foundation. They will reach consensus as to which grants should be funded and
make recommendations to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors will then pass their recommendations on to the BOCES Board of Education who will accept or reject the grant. If the BOCES Board accepts the grant, a special budget will be set up in the general fund from which the grant will be operated and expenses disbursed.

The Grant Application is now available for the 2010/11 school year. Please type your application and after required signatures, submit to:

IF A GRANT IS AWARDED

What Happens if I am a Successful Applicant?
If you are awarded a Grant from the Foundation, the Foundation will expect an interim and final report on your activities. In addition, you will be responsible to keep all records of money spent, receipts and any disbursements which could affect the Grant.

Finally, you will be asked to fill out a Grant Evaluation form which you will be sent some time in the progress of your Grant. In addition, you may be asked to come to present the results of your Grant to the Foundation Board.

ABOVE DISCLAIMER
** Please understand that your willingness to apply for a grant does not necessarily mean the Grant will be approved. Initially, you must obtain the approval of your Building Principal or Supervisor who, if they approve of the idea, will pass it along to the Executive Director of your department. If the Executive Director also agrees that it’s a worthy idea to be funded, he or she will pass it along to the District Superintendent. If the District Superintendent approves, he will pass the application to the Foundation’s Board who will consider it. Please do not forget to sign the application and get the applicable approvals.  Applications will not be considered if all three signatures are not complete.
