You have an opportunity to have a positive impact on on the lives of students in Nassau County
-
Nassau BOCES (The Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Nassau County) is one of 37 BOCES which were created to provide shared services to the school districts of New York State. With over 130 programs and services in 56 school districts, Nassau BOCES programs range from its more than twelve Special Education schools to the Long Island High School of the Arts for gifted and talented students. While we are very proud of our excellent special education and career and technical education programs, the fact is Nassau BOCES is much, much more than that! Alternative high schools, such as the Teenage Parenting Program and a premier Outdoor and Environmental Education Program offering supplementary, hands-on science experiences outside the classroom, are just two of the unique BOCES programs that reach thousands of Long Island students.
With no taxing authority, Nassau BOCES relies only on the fees and tuition it charges its school districts. In order to enable school districts to participate in as broad a range of programs as possible to meet the needs of their students, BOCES is committed to keeping its operating costs down to a minimum. But school district budgets are being stretched to the limit, and sometimes valuable enriching experiences are lost to Long Island students. That’s why the Nassau BOCES Educational Foundation (NBEF) was created in July of 2006. We now have 19 members on our Board, many with previous charitable board experience. We are all volunteers – no one receives compensation of any kind. With the money raised from successful fund raising efforts – golf tournaments and a Gala honoring Long Islanders who made enduring contributions to public education, the NBEF has funded nine outstanding educational programs. These programs, chosen from dozens of grant applicants, were selected because of their creativity, and broad scope of their missions.
We know we are not the only charity asking for your help, but if you choose to be a sponsor, you are also choosing to make a profound difference in the lives of the students in Nassau County. For that, the students, the staff and the Foundation Board would be forever grateful!
The Nassau BOCES Educational Foundation is an approved 501c(3) public charity and all donations are deductible to the full extent of the law.Do you need more information?
